The Dolls and Teddy Bear sale held on the 27th of March featured three private owner collections; The Essex Charlie Bear Collection and The Northern Charlie Bear Collection plus a private owner collection of Steiff bears and felt dolls, Beatrix Potter animals, Lakeland Bears Deans Rag Book and Merrythought Gollies. The sale also included My Little Pony, Care Bears, Barbie, Ken and Sindy Dolls, cloth dolls and Pelham puppets, Annette Himstedt vinyl artist dolls, Armand Marseille and other German bisque dolls.
One of the rarest and most sought after Steiff Limited Edition Pieces was sold at Vectis Toy and Collectables Auctions on Tuesday 27th March 2018.
Lot no. 5016 Steiff Karl Lagerfield teddy bear, white tag 657726, is a limited edition of 2500 pieces. Released in 2008, he is crafted in white alpaca, white gold coated button within his ear, designed to be a likeness of the famous fashion designer, in collaboration with Karl Lagerfield, the clothes and accessories were designed in his Paris Studio and the materials were individually selected. His black jacket is of Italian wool, white poplin shirt with standing collar and trompe l'oeil look button holes, jeans with a patina from the K Karl Lagerfield collection, black silk cravat and Swarovski crystal, belt of real leather, the initials of the "maestro" are set in crystals on the buckle, tailor-made boots, miniature glasses from the "Lagerfield eyewear" line. A superb bear!
