How to Bid
There are several ways you can bid in one of our auctions.
BEFORE THE SALE
You can tell us what is the maximum you want to bid and we’ll bid on your behalf up to the maximum you are willing to pay.
There are several ways you can place this type of bid (often referred to as absentee or proxy bidding). You can place absentee bids by post, by email, by telephone or via the web site.
To place your bids by post, send them to:
Stockton on Tees
Tel: 01642 750616
OR you can telephone us on 01642 750616
Or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
OR via the Vectis Web Site. To bid via the web site you must create an account. You can find details about how to register here.
You can also bid via our partner Invaluable. Absentee bids can be left on the Invaluable website up until 2 hrs prior to the auction commencing.
ON THE DAY OF THE SALE LIVE BIDDING
After you have registered on the vectis web site visit the LIVE AUCTIONS page to view and bid live. Please note, auctions won't be visible until shortly before the auction time.
If you would like to bid live via the telephone please contact us prior to the day of the auction (01642 750616). We will arrange for you to be involved live via telephone on the day of the sale. We will call you two or three minutes prior to the lot being offered for auction. There is no charge for telephone bidding.
We cannot guarantee that all telephone requests will be honored due to the rising demand for telephone bidding, particularly at certain sections of the auction, it may be impossible to have a line available. Although we will try to accommodate every request, we cannot be held responsible for any missed calls due to human or technical errors.
We participate in 'live bidding' for all sales. To enable us to do this the following bidding increments will apply
|£5 - £50||£5|
|£50 - £200||£10|
|£200 - £700||£20|
|£700 - £1,000||£50|
|£1,000 - £3,000||£100|
|£3,000 - £7,000||£200|
|£7,000 - £10,000||£500|
Any postal, fax, internet or bids that have been telephoned in with odd figures will be rounded up, for example a bid for £56 will be rounded up to £60, or a bid for £222 will be rounded up to £240.
In the event of a 'tied' bid we will always accept the bid we received first.
Please Note: A reserve is set at 60% of bottom estimate for all Lots, if your bid does not meet this level you will need to bid again.
