"The Chris Broos Lifetime Collection"

Part 2 will feature in the 15th of June Model Train Sale
Part 3 will be in the 20th of July's sale.

Featuring in the Vectis Model Train sale on the 18th of May was a fantastic collection of O Gauge Locomotives and Rolling Stock from the collection of Chris Broos.

Chris G.A. M Broos (The Netherlands)

Like every boy in the late forties early fifties Chris had some tin soldiers and a model railroad. When plastic model kits became common place during the fifties and sixties Chris started modelling.

When I met him for the first time in the mid seventies he was an active modeller with a significant collection of tin soldiers, model kits and trains. But in the following decades work, career and a successful business took precedence over his hobbies and he had little time for collecting and even less for modelling.

When he retired during the beginning of this century he took up modelling again and began collecting in earnest. His main focus was on tin soldiers and high quality railroad models.

When Chris passed away last year his wife Marianne became the custodian of his immense collection. After some consultation with old friends she decided to auction off the collection so the steam engines, wagons and tin soldiers would find new homes with collectors sharing the same passion like Chris for these subjects.

Chris will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a fine and friendly gentleman and a passionate collector.

Henk Knol (The Netherlands)
