Model Train Sale - Friday 18th May 2018 10:30 AM

The Model Train sale which was held on the 18th of May featured a selection of British Outline OO Gauge, HO Scale, Hornby Dublo 2-rail and 3-rail, Wrenn and Triang Railways, and Kit/Kitbuilt; plus three private owner collections. The Trix Northumbrian Collection - Part 1, 24 lots of Trix pre-war sets, 3-rail locos, passenger and goods rolling stock. The Chris Broos Lifetime Collection, featuring AS, Darstaed, Fulgurex, Golden Age (British Outline), Lemaco, MTH, Kits & Accessories, Spring, Marklin, Philotrain Wunder/Lenz, Meccano & Other Constructional Toys; and the William Hunter Hornby O Gauge Collection - Part 2 - Hornby Rolling Stock Coaches and Wagons, Accessories, Control Systems, Meccano and Track. The sale concluded with Live Steam, Hornby O Gauge, Lionel, Kit/Scratchbuilt O Gauge, On30, Books, Magazines & Catalogues and our usual good selection of General Trains.

General Toys - Thursday 17th May 2018 10:30 AM

The General Toy sale which was held on the 17th of May featured a number of mixed boxed vehicle groups from manufacturers such as EFE, Oxford Diecast, Base Toys, Corgi The Original Omnibus Company, Classix by Pocketbond, Whitebox, Neo and Minichamps, plus Hachette boxed tractor groups. The sale also included Corgi and Dinky, Lansdowne and Brooklin models, Dinky (Atlas Editions), TV & Film related collectables, Corgi Aviation Archive, Airfix, Revell and Tamiya military boxed groups, Lego, boxed games, jigsaws, DVDs/Videos, PC Games, and books.

Specialist & Tinplate Toy Sale - Tuesday 15th May 2018 10:30 AM

The Specialist and Tinplate Toy sale held on the 15th of May featured six private owner collections, including The Hartley Clark Collection part 2 – a selection of boxed and unboxed cars, motorcycles, vans, trucks and other vehicles from Politoys, Dinky, Mercury and many others. The Melida Collection had 26 lots of Dinky trade box sets and vehicles, and The White Metal Racing Car Collection featured 12 lots from TW Collection (Trevor Wright Models). The sale also included part 4 of the John Gurney collection, a large selection of Lansdowne and Brooklin models, and two Private Owner collections of further Brooklin models, plus Hart and HartSmith Models, Marklin, and aircraft from Aero Mini. A large Tinplate and Plastic section included German, French and UK novelty toys and automata, plus FROG aircraft, Triang catalogues, Victory Industries plastic models and racing sets and a KT Toys Liliput Robot.

Specialist Sale - Wednesday 16th May 2018 10:30 AM

The Specialist sale held on the 16th of May featured four private owner collections. The North East Mercedes collection included models from Autoart, Minichamps, Maxichamps, Shuco and Spark amongst others. The Portuguese Collection – additional items, included Endurance Art of Sport and similar resin figures plus 1/18th and 1/24th scale racing cars; and a Private Owner Ferrari Collection included 20 lots of 1/18th scale models from Hot Wheels, Bburago and others. The Martyn Pearson collection featured 160 lots of 1/18th, 1/24th and 1/43rd scale models from Hot Wheels and Minichamps, plus others; ½ scale replica helmets, clothing and miscellaneous merchandise including t-shirts, bags and caps, plus Eligor Racing transporters and other diecast vehicles, and a Land Rover Collection with models by Hart and HartSmith models. Other lots in the sale included Maisto 1/12th Jaguars, Prameta (Germany) clockwork models, Triang Spot-On, Dinky and Corgi, including catalogues and leaflets.














Sometimes a very special teddy bear will come along. In the Vectis Auction on Thursday 31st May is one such chap. 'Big Bear' is a handsome Chad Valley, center seam teddy from 1939. He comes with photographs of himself with his original owner and provenance as to the early part of his life.

- Chad Valley "Big Bear" centre seam golden mohair teddy bear, British, 1939, amber and black glass eyes, shaven muzzle, black vertically stitched coal nose, fully jointed, recovered felt pads (old pads are underneath), black claw stitching, slight discolouration to fur, otherwise Excellent Plus mohair coverage, 27"/69cm. NB Hand written note accompanies Big Bear: "My name is Big Bear. My history is:- I started my life in an English toy factory and then sat in the window of The Southgate Galleries in London N14 for their Christmas display. I was visited by many children and their mothers. Unfortunately as it was 1939, money was tight so I wasn't purchased till their New Year sale (when I was reduced in price!). I started my life in Winchmore Hill N21 in February 1940, staying there till 1961 when my mistress married and we moved to Goffs Oak where I still reside. (Please see the two photos taken in my youth in the back garden in summer 1940.)"
