Episode 10 ? Barbie
In this week's sale, iconic American doll brand Barbie goes head-to-head with UK rival, Sindy. But which will achieve the highest prices? Teddy bear expert Jo receives an elderly and well-loved, Steiff bear called ?Ted?, and grandfather Mick hopes to foster his continuing love of toy trains in his 8-year-old grandson, Charlie.
The Specialist Sale to be held on the 9th of June started with boxed and unboxed Corgi, Dinky and Crescent models from a Private Owner Collection. Further Corgi and Dinky models included cars, trucks, military, plus Corgi Juniors, rare issues, pre-production colour trials and rare catalogues. Part 3 of The Hector Hamer Collection included tractors from Britains, Siku and others, the sale continued with further Corgi and Dinky models, TV & Film Related, and Plastic & Metal Model Kits. The sale concluded with The Leicester Hills Collection and further specialist models including Matchbox Superfast, Hot Wheels, Autoart, Minichamps, Tomica and others.
Episode 9 ? Karl Lagerfeld
A much sought after, Karl Lagerfeld-inspired Steiff teddy bear is sent to the auction house, creating a buzz of excitement among staff and collectors alike. Dolls and Teddy Bear enthusiast Victoria has her heart set on securing him, but the competition is going to be tough. Karl isn't the only piece of toy history passing through the saleroom, some extremely rare Gerry Anderson toys are also going under the hammer and a former Airfix model designer is selling unique pieces from his life's work. We even get to meet a legend of the modelling world: 97 year old artist Roy Cross, whose iconic artwork adorns more than 250 Airfix boxes.
The Simply Dinky sale held on the 8th of June featured a single private owner all-Dinky collection. It included French, Spanish and Dublo Dinky models, including cars, commercials, buses and coaches, trucks, lorries, construction vehicles, Military, aircraft, farm vehicles, emergency vehicles and TV & Film related. The lots included Trade Packs, promotional, rare and hard to find models, plus accessories and empty boxes.
The Model Train sale held on the 27th of May started with OO Gauge British Outline from Hornby, Bachmann, Lima, Airfix and others, including train sets. Further items included HO USA & Continental Outline, N Gauge, Z Gauge and On30. The sale also included Hornby Dublo 2 & 3-rail and Acho, a Classic Collections 3-rail Limited Edition Loco, Triang, Wrenn, Trix/Liliput, Kit/Kitbuit OO Gauge, Lone Star Treble O ?Lectric Locomotives, plus Meccano & Other Constructional Toys, Live Steam, and Gauge 1 & Larger. The sale concluded with Hornby and other, Finescale, Modern and Kitbuilt O Gauge, Railwayana, Books, Magazines, Jigsaws and our usual good selection of General Trains.
