Part 1 of The Wolfie Ginsburg Matchbox collection held on
the 12th of July featured over 480 Matchbox models. Lots included
boxed and unboxed, groups and single models including Regular Wheel, Superfast,
Super Kings, Speed Kings, Battle Kings and Early Moko Lesney. There was a nice
range of affordable models for all levels of collector as well as some rare and
harder to find and pre-production prototype models.
Matchbox Regular Wheels 27c Cadillac Sixty Special - Stannard Code 1 - metallic silver-green body with rear silver trim & red tail lamps, off white roof, clear windows, type A hood interior without arrow cast, maroon base, 20-tread silver plastic wheels - Near Mint with a couple of tiny pin size factory assembly paint chips to window pillars & usual paint chips to tow hook in Excellent "New Model" type B5 box printed by Pembroke Abbey. Superb example of this rare early body casting.

Matchbox Early Moko Lesney Toys Tinplate Clockwork “Jumbo The Walking Elephant” - overall Excellent Plus complete with original cord tail & key (in working order when tested) in Fair dirty/discoloured from storage with some ink graffiti to 1 striker side but still complete original card box with all end flaps & tabs. Outstanding model with just the usual minor factory assembly marks and the best we have seen for a very long time indeed complete with rare original box.

Matchbox Superfast 75a Ferrari Berlinetta - metallic green body without silver trim but with headlamp cowls, ivory interior, bare metal base, solid 5-spooke narrow wheels without tread pattern cast - Near Mint with a couple of tiny pin size factory assembly paint chips to rear edge of trunk in Excellent "New" type G box.

Matchbox Super Kings K69 Volvo & Caravan Set containing (1) K74 Volvo 245 DL Estate Car - metallic champagne gold body, clear windows, dark yellow interior, gloss black Matchbox International Macau base, 5-spoke deep dish wheels (2) K69 Europa Caravan - unusual custard yellow plastic body with dark chocolate brown tampo print dark amber windows, dark chocolate brown opening door & interior, metallic champagne gold chassis & Matchbox International base without country of origin, red plastic jockey wheel, 4-spoke wheels - Near Mint with a couple of minor factory paint flaws & reference label to Volvo base in Good Plus 1987 copyright light blue window box illustrating Jaguar XJ12 & Caravan rather than the Volvo estate car. Rare late issue set.

Matchbox Super Kings K16 Ford LTS Articulated Tanker "BP" - tractor unit has white cab with black plastic grille, dark green windows, lemon yellow chassis with black plastic rear axle clip & fifth wheel coupling, trailer has white tank with chrome catwalk, lemon yellow chassis, Maltese Cross wheels with black rear axle clip - Good Plus to Excellent with a few tiny chips to tractor unit cab, left hand side of plastic tank & associated BP label are discoloured from sun exposure in Excellent dark blue window box (reference label applied to tractor unit base & box end flap). Tractor unit has "BP" labels from Superfast 32a Leyland BP Tanker, trailer has "BP" labels from MG1 BP Garage Service Station Sign and is the first time we have offered an example for sale.

Matchbox King Size pair of Japanese market issues (1) K28 Bedford Skip Truck "Hales" - red cab with door labels, clear windows, tan skips & rear platform, gloss black Matchbox International England base, 8-dot wheels, complete with plastic figure and wheelbarrow - Near Mint in Good creased Japan Series yellow window box; (2) K33 Scammell Crusader Articulated Pallet Truck "Gauntlet International" - dark blue cab with white roof, clear windows, ivory plastic grille & interior, orange chassis & trailer, white Hiab Crane with black plastic jib, brown pallets complete with light grey crates, 5-spoke deep dish wheels - Excellent Plus with a few factory assembly paint chips to Hiab Crane & a little dusty from display in Fair to Good Japan Series yellow window box. Matchbox King Size/Super Kings K14 Scammell Routeman Freight Liner Pre-production colour trial - lemon yellow cab & chassis, clear windows, ivory interior, rear body has metallic green roof & loadbed (same colour as Superfast No.45a Ford Group 6), red box body section with white sliding doors, bare metal base which has not been zinc plated, base text of box body states "Freight Liner Matchbox Series King Size No.K-14" with incomplete copyright date, 4-spoke black plastic hubs with separate rubber tyres (one rear tyre split) & ivory rear axle clip - Fair play worn with 2 cracks to roof glazing. Very rare model fitted with prototype wheels which were never released & King Size rather than Super Kings base.

Matchbox Speed Kings factory model makers Pre-production prototype model of a Customised Ford Model T Van Hot Rod - metallic lilac chassis with K50-53 base taken from the Street Rod/Hot Fire Engine but modified with customised wings & running boards, van body has been handmade possibly from modelling clay or a similar material to an extremely high standard, clear windows, 5-spoke deep dish mag wheels - Excellent with tarnished plated engine & exhausts. Superb & unique design proposal
