The John Gurney Collection

Part 1 of the John Gurney Collection came up for sale this week at Vectis Auctions, Thornaby; the sale spanned two days and realised just short of £100,000 (including Buyers Premium). Further sales will be held in March, May and possibly July.

Part 1 of this fantastic collection was made up of mainly white metal items which have been collected over many years. Day one featured Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, Franklin and Danbury Mint and day two included Gems & Cobwebs, Milestone, Brooklin and Minimarque.

Highlights from the two days include:

Vectis Auctioneer Andrew Reed believes the reason for these phenomenal prices is the quality, rarity and condition of this collection. There was a lot of interest before the sale and the Mint models in Mint condition boxes ensured some extremely strong prices achieved.

Further lots from the John Gurney collection include an outstanding collection of ‘Bronze-age’ comics (Feb 28th) and 740 Durham Classics models (March)
