 The Charles Hollywood Matchbox Collection - Part One - Wednesday 30 October 2024 10:00

Part 1 of this auction includes over 450 lots of Matchbox Regular Wheels, collected by one private owner, acclaimed North East artist Terry Kneeshaw, the collection focuses on the different artwork for every box type for each model.  The lifelong collection, which he started in 1976 features each box type A to F by series 1 – 75 and includes colour variations and rare issues, plus empty boxes and a small selection of Matchbox Yesteryear models and sets.

Lot 168 - Matchbox Regular Wheels 33c Lamborghini Miura - dark metallic gold body, frosted engine cover, ivory interior, bare metal base, chrome hubs -  light rub marks to roof otherwise Near Mint in Near Mint type F2 box, nice example of rare model along with crisp clean box.

Lot 122 - Matchbox Regular Wheels 26b Foden Cement Mixer - orange body with silver trim, dark grey plastic barrel, without chassis braces, 9 x 20-tread grey plastic wheels - Excellent does have somy tiny rubs to rear ridged sections, rust spots to axles, but overall bright example in Excellent type C Lesney box with small penmark to one corner, printed by Pembroke Abbey.

Lot 171 - Matchbox Regular Wheels 34b Volkswagen Caravette Camper Van - pale green body with silver trim, turquoise green windows, dark green interior, thin door box, raised door window frames, non riveted 6 line base, 11 x 45 tread black plastic wheels - Near Mint with odd tiny factory mark in Fair to Good rare late issue type E3 box with matching model artwork - complete & quite firm but unfortunately with large stain to one corner.
