2022 sees the 75th anniversary of the popular table football game Subbuteo, which was created by Peter Adolph and loved by children and adults alike.
The simple game started with flat figures (or "flats") made from cardboard, and a piece of chalk to mark out a pitch, with the first 3-d figures, the heavyweight versions, released in 1961, and lightweight figures appearing in the 80s.
A Subbuteo fan and published writer has put some of his collection up for sale with Vectis Auctions, which will be sold in our September General Toy sale, along with further sets from other Vendors.
The Unique collection has something for every Subbuteo fan from Football, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey and even fishing.
Along with International Editions, Continental Club Editions and Display editions this collection also covers World Cup sets covering years 1970, 74, 78, and 82, Mexico 86, Italia 90 and USA 94. Plus, the set some collectors would describe as the Holy Grail of Subbuteo - the Munich World Series Edition.
With the current success of the England Lionesses and World Cup ?22 heading our way, it's a perfect time to relive the excitement of the beautiful game.
Further details will be released closer to the sale.
