The Specialist and Tinplate toy sale held on the 14th August featured over 200 lots of tinplate and plastic toys from British, European, and Continental manufacturers. Lots included pre and post war vehicles from Triang Minic; cars, boats, space and novelty toys, aircraft, buses, trains and train sets including, clockwork, battery operated, and friction drive from Schuco, Timpo, Wells Brimtoy, Marx toys and many more. The Coventry Collection featured boxed groups from Revell, Kyosho, Bburago, Franklin mint, Polistil, Vanguards and others; and The Dr Cornel Fleming Collection included over 170 lots of military, space vehicles, and aircraft including plastic, white metal, and diecast from Corgi, Britains, Matchbox, and others. Further items in the sale included Mattel Hot wheels Rumblers, Lansdowne, Tudor Rose, books, games, vintage literature, displays and posters and much more.

 

Mattel Hot Wheels TA 4995 "Rrrumblers" Rumblers Gift Set comprising 5 x Motorcycles including Lion Head with grey rider and yellow seat, Eagle Head in blue with purple rider plus 3 others - conditions are generally Near Mint, packaging is generally Good with some creasing edge wear and small tear to one corner, cellophane window is intact without any noticeable damage (some tape remains to edges of boxes).

J E Thomas Removers, Welsh Walls, Oswestry - an unusual large scale coloured Advertising Poster from the early part of the twentieth century featuring this well known haulage companies Steam Lorry and Trailer in vivid red and yellow livery, has been stored in a cardboard tube for many years and there is some tearing to the edges but otherwise a Good example of a period transport related poster produced by Julian Green Ltd of Leeds. The approximate dimensions are 79"/2m long x 30"/77cm high. Note the poster has been produced in two equal halves - otherwise Good.

A 1920's printed Transport Related Poster by Julian Green Ltd of Leeds (No.443) circa 1920 of a vintage solid tyred Petrol Removal Van in the red/yellow livery of J E Thomas Removers of Welsh Walls, Oswestry - is unmounted, and has been stored for years inside a cardboard tube, some light wear to the edges but overall a Good vivid example, 60"/153cm wide x 40"/101cm high.

Group of assorted boxed tinplate Commercials - to include Eastern European Raba Articulated Container Truck - featuring green cab with orange chassis, removable Kamion container 14"/36cm long. Chinese made models include a friction Circus Truck with musical sound and animal heads to roof, vintage clockwork Gas Oil Tanker and a 1960's Chinese made Trolleybus 705, clockwork motor propels the vehicle forward and stops at intervals with ringing bell, fitted with spring loaded trolleypoles, 11"/28cm long - Excellent Plus to Near Mint in Good Plus illustrated boxes. A group of 1960's Chinese made Buses and a Lorry - to include Trolleybus 705 - red/cream, fitted with spring loaded trolleypoles, no key but the clockwork motor is in working order and the vehicle periodically stops with ringing bell. Also included is a "Fowls Transporter" (sic) with turquoise lower cab and white roof, includes stake type body to rear with 6 x birds and a clear plastic roof (comes with a key), friction drive, 8"/21cm long - Excellent to Near Mint in Good Plus illustrated boxes. Also included is an unboxed "Touring Car" Tourist Minibus - multi coloured including interior, friction drive, light age related wear but otherwise an Excellent unusual example, 6.5"/16cm long. (3)

Hornby Pre-war tinplate clockwork Speed Boat "Swift" - powder blue, with cream deck and blue engine cover, includes clear plastic windscreen, comes with a Meccano key in the correct envelope and the motor is in working order with brake - a Good Plus to Excellent example which has survived very well, all is contained in a Good Plus card box with illustrated label to lid and marked "Hornby Speed Boat No.2" together with a tested label and instruction slip to the interior.

TPS (Japan) "Mechanical Girl Skipping Rope" - 1950's tinplate toy with detailed tinprinting featuring Boy and Girl figures, skipping rope in working order with little Girl jumping in the centre - an Excellent Plus to Near Mint scarce example, 12"/30cm long and comes in a Good Plus illustrated box.

Tomica a mixed group to include 19 Kawazaki Vertol - blue/white "New York Airways", 67 Toyota JSDF Military Ambulance, 77 Rocket Launcher, F65 Lamborghini Cheetah plus others - does include some unboxed models - Good to Near Mint in Fair to Good boxes. (10)
