The Specialist Diecast and Tinplate Toy sale held on the 2nd of October once again started at the earlier time of 10am. The sale included 805 lots of cars, buses, lorries, aircraft, military and emergency vehicles from manufacturers such as Corgi, Dinky, Triang Spot On, Britains, Tekno, Metosul, Solido CIJ and Mercury plus many more. Dinky models included French, Spanish, Pre-War and trade packs. There were also TV and Film related vehicles including James Bond, Batmobiles and Captain Scarlet; Rob Eddie Brooklin Models, Shackleton Toy Foden flat beds, and Lion Car truck groups. The tinplate section included large tinplate and diecast car transporters, Bandai and other Japanese tinplate vehicles and toys; Robots and space toys, novelty toys, figures and vehicles from UK and European models such as Schuco, Wells, Chad Valley and Lehmann.  


Fernand Martin 202 "L'eminent Avocat" Automata clockwork figure - representing a courtroom Lawyer, the tinplate courtroom box is tinprinted in simulated wood grain, with green top, the standing Lawyer figure has a black cloth gown, white cravat, white card cuffs and his metal hands and head are painted flesh coloured pink. All is mounted on a tinprinted baseplate. In the Avocat's left hand is his original card reading "Code Civil". This toy is a rare variation without the Lawyer's hat and was purchased by the vendors family from new in 1905 from Gamages store in London which is confirmed by a Gamages price label to the side of the box reading 1/3d! The clockwork motor is not working having been incorrectly wound but is present and appears complete with the integral key. The toy has clearly been cared for and kept in its box for most of its life and this is reflected in the condition which is otherwise overall Good Plus to Excellent for display, the painted head particularly still retains its brightness and is the first such example that Vectis have had. It stands 22cm or almost 9" tall and still retains a Good Plus original crisp card box with Gamages price label and black and white illustration to the lid.

Dinky Trade Pack 359 "Space 1999" Eagle Transporter - this factory shrink wrapped pack containing 6 examples - which are all believed to be Mint including boxes - superb opportunity to acquire.

Dinky 230 Talbot-Lago Racing Car - blue body with silver trim and yellow racing number 4, red plastic hubs with grey treaded tyres - Excellent (does have some small chips on bonnet) still a bright example of a harder to find variation in a Fair (complete) yellow and red carded picture box.

Dinky Pre-war 33d "GWR" Mechanical Horse and Trailer - brown, cream, black smooth hubs and tyres - Fair to Good still a bright example.

Dinky 182 Porsche 356A Coupe - bright red body, silver trim - Good Plus still a bright example in a Good (slightly grubby) yellow and red carded picture box.

Triang Spot-On 137 Massey Ferguson Tractor 65 - grey body and wheel arches, red engine cover with silver grille, yellow hubs - Good still a bright example of a hard issue to find.

Corgi 441 Volkswagen "Toblerone" Van - blue body, lemon interior, grey base, silver trim, spun hubs - Near Mint a beautiful example in a generally Good Plus (couple of small scuffs on edges) blue and yellow carded picture box.

Corgi "Corgi Toys" tinplate Shop Display Stand - finished in white, black, yellow, blue with "Corgi Dog" logos - overall condition is generally Excellent (does have some small scratches on edges) still a beautiful example.

Roullet & Decamps Elephant Automaton Figure - very scarce toy Elephant from the late Victorian era circa 1895, fitted with substantial clockwork motor and comes with an animal hide covering over cardboard. The motor appears to have seized and will require freeing, fitted with replacement tusks and one replacement eye - still a very rare toy and a worthy candidate for some restoration - Fair, 15"/38cm tall when seated.
