The Francois Frindel Collection will be held on the 17th of March, the sale will feature 555 lots of boxed and unboxed Matchbox models, including Regular Wheels, Accessory Packs, Major Packs, Matchbox King Size and Superfast, plus Speed Kings, Super Kings, Battle Kings and Matchbox Models of Yesteryear. All are listed with corresponding Stannard codes where applicable and the collection includes rare variations and factory errors, and harder to find models.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 18e Field Car - Stannard Code 4 - lemon yellow body with cast open roof cross, burnt sienna roof, ivory interior without rear satchel cast, bare metal base, green plastic hubs with black tyres - Excellent Plus to Near Mint with a couple of tiny chips & usual factory assembly marks to plastic roof, (tyres are also very loose & now contained within box) in generally Excellent but a little creased at one corner type F2 box.

Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y8 1914 Sunbeam Motorcycle & Sidecar - issue 6 - chrome plated body with sidecar axle brace, black sidecar seat - Near Mint to Mint (reference label to base) in Good Plus to Excellent a little creased with a couple of stains pink/yellow window box.

Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y10 1928 Mercedes 36/220 - unlisted variation - bright red seats, single spare wheel, type A base with holes, fitted with larger 11mm diameter 24-spoke wire wheels & 72-tread black plastic tyres including spare wheel - Near Mint (seats loose) in Excellent to Excellent Plus type E1 box with original price added in pencil to one end flap. These larger diameter wire wheels are not part of the Models of Yesteryear range but are from Regular Wheel No.4c Triumph Motorcycle & Sidecar, very rare factory error no doubt caused by the production line running out of the correct pattern wheels or being supplied with these Motorcycle wheels by mistake. The first time we have come across this particular variation.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 9b Dennis Fire Engine - Stannard Code 5 - red body with gold trim, type B ladder escape wheels, 18 tread grey plastic wheels with crimped axles - Near Mint to Mint in Excellent Plus scarce type B3 box with minor creasing to one end flap. Nice example.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 74a Mobile Refreshments Canteen - Stannard Code 3 - very pale pink body, mid-blue interior & base, 20-tread grey plastic wheels - Excellent Plus (with a couple of tiny chips, one of which to leading edge of roof has been touched in) in Good type B4 box with tape repair to one end flap.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 52a 1948 Maserati 4CLT Racing Car - Stannard Code 4 - red body with mask sprayed silver grille only & racing number 52 decals, cream type A driver, gloss black base, wire wheels - Excellent with chip to hood and some chips to driver - in Good Plus to Excellent type C Lesney box without printers identification.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 6c Euclid Dump - unlisted Stannard Code - type B body without silver trim, type B tipper base with cast letter A, 40 tread regular black plastic wheels - overall Excellent, with a few chips to upper edge of dump body & cab roof - attached by flexible spring to a generally Excellent wooden pen stand with "Chemco Industries Inc. Tampa, Florida" brass plaque. Very unusual promotional item, the first we have seen.

Matchbox Superfast 15b Lansing Bagnall Forklift Truck "Steinbock" Promotional Issue - red body with cast steering wheel, bare metal mast with dark yellow plastic forks, gloss black base, dot-dash wheels - Excellent Plus (glue showing through labels which are discoloured) in Good Plus creased "New" type I box. Rare German promotional issue.
