The Matchbox sale held on the 26th of November featured part 2 of the Ipswich Goods Junction collection. Featuring over 290 lots of boxed and unboxed Matchbox Superfast models, including pre-production, colour trial and promotional issues, plus rare and unusual variations; the collection included empty boxes and Matchbox Super Kings. The J.K Collection was a further private owner collection of over 90 lots of Matchbox Regular Wheels and Superfast models, including cars, Emergency vehicles, construction, Military, and Farm. Further items in the sale included further Matchbox Regular Wheels and Major Pack groups.


Matchbox Superfast 8b Ford Mustang Wildcat Dragster Pre-production Colour Trial - dark red body, dark green windows, dark yellow interior, bare metal base, spiro rear wheels - Near Mint (couple of minor marks only) complete with Near Mint unfolded "New" type G box.

Matchbox Superfast 20a Lamborghini Marzal Pre-production Colour Trial - metallic onyx green body, dark amber windows, ivory interior, bare metal base, 5-spoke narrow wheels without tread pattern cast - Excellent to Excellent Plus (does have some paint loss to body raised outlines but model still displays very well indeed) in Excellent Plus "New" type F2 transitional box with a couple of small stains to striker sides. Nice example of a striking colour trial.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 39b Pontiac Bonneville Convertible - Stannard Code 2 - metallic purple body with silver trim, turquoise green windscreen, cream interior with red steering wheel, maroon base, 20-tread grey plastic wheels - Excellent with some paint chips to corners of body & paint loss to tow hook in Fair "New Model" type C Lesney box (one end flap almost detached).

Matchbox Regular Wheels 15a Diamond T Prime Mover - Stannard Code 1 - yellow body with silver trim, metal wheels with flat crimped axles - overall Excellent with paint loss to silver trim, a couple of tiny chips to cab roof & edges of rear platform & rear tow hook incomplete (see extra photo) in Good creased later period type B2 box with large model numbers to end flaps & revised model illustration. This rare model still displays well.

Matchbox Superfast 19a Lotus Formula 1 Racing Car - metallic purple body with racing number 3 labels, bare metal base, spiro wheels - Near Mint with minor mark to nose label in Near Mint "New" type G box. Nice example.

Matchbox Superfast 40a Vauxhall Guildsman Pre-production colour trial - metallic silver-blue body, turquoise green windows, pale yellow interior, bare metal base, 5-spoke wide wheels - Excellent Plus in Mint "New" type H box.

Matchbox Superfast 64a MG 1100 - metallic blue body, clear windows, ivory interior, bare metal base, small diameter 5-spoke narrow wheels - Mint in Excellent to Excellent Plus type F3 transitional issue box (does have some scuff marks to both striker sides).

Matchbox Regular Wheels 42c Iron Fairy Crane - Stannard Code 1 - yellow jib with type A high hydraulic ram pin & yellow plastic hook, dark yellow type A interior & base - Near Mint with a couple of minor pin size factory assembly paint chips to ballast box only in Excellent type F2 box. Very rare initial production run the hydraulic ram locating pin quickly being altered to a lower position on the turntable.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 25b Volkswagen Beetle - unlisted Stannard code - metallic silver-blue body with front & rear mask sprayed silver trim but without red tail lamps, clear windows, gloss black base, 10 x 24-tread black plastic wheels - overall Good Plus but does have crack to centre of both windscreen & rear screen along with paint chips to hood & paint loss to right hand edge of roof above door. Although a little play worn model still displays well and is exceptionally hard to find with 24-tread black plastic wheels, rare opportunity.

Matchbox Regular Wheels 37b Karrier Bantam Coca Cola Delivery Truck - yellow body with mask sprayed silver trim, short rear decal, gloss black base, 24-tread silver plastic wheels - Good Plus to Excellent with some small paint chips in Fair tape repaired earlier period type B3 box. Very rare model with silver plastic wheels.
