 Matchbox Model Auction - Friday 31 May 2024 10:00

The Matchbox Model Auction to be held on the 31st of May features a large selection of Matchbox Superfast models including twin packs, MB series, 1980 issues and pre-production factory colour trials.  Models include cars, commercials, construction, emergency vehicles and military. The auction includes Matchbox Super Kings, Speed Kings factory trial models, Adventure 2000, Battle Kings and Regular wheels, plus “The Perfect Toy” MICA reissues. Further items include Matchbox Models of Yesteryear including preproduction and colour trial models, Giftware and Sunbeam Motorcycle and Milford sidecar colour trials and parts. There are Code 2 and 3 models, empty boxes, carry cases, books, catalogues and a musical carousel playset. The sale also includes a nice collection of Superfast models and printers sample boxes and blister cards, plus original artwork consigned by ex-Lesney employee Roy Huxley.

Matchbox Superfast Original Artwork T400 - 1970s  Artwork for the Matchbox Superfast Track Pack 400 featuring 1b Mod Rod & 68a Porsche 910 mounted on card with glue on printed items showing contents & instructions (missinga couple of component images) Measures 80cm x 54.5cm approx dimensions of a production flat pack box, signed by Artist. Excellent Unique piece of Lesney Matchbox history - see photos.

Lot 251 - Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y16 1904 Spyker Tourer - rare maroon body without gold trim, dark green seats, brass 12-spoke wheels with black knobbly tyres and with single ejector ring mark on base under rear axle - extremely rare - usual loose seats, a few small chips on chassis edges but overall clean and bright, (previously sold by Vectis) - Good Plus to Excellent in good type D1 box illustrating two-tone green version.

Lot 106 - Matchbox Superfast 45a Ford Group 6 - Rare flat non-metallic green body with circular racing number 7 nose & door labels (combination of labels not seen before at vectis) clear windows, ivory interior, chrome engine, bare metal base, 5-spoke solid narrow wheels with tread pattern - Excellent, some paint rubs to rear, but displays well, very rare model to find in any condition, Unboxed.
