Model Train Sale Results - Friday 21st July

The Model Train auction brought some wonderful results. Over 600 lots in the sale included The Sussex Collection of Hornby Dublo 2-rail plus further HO, OO and N Gauge. There was a terrific offering of Hornby Dublo 3 Rail, Triang, Wrenn, Trix, Kitbuilt and Live Steam. Meccano and other constructional toys featured plus a varied selection of general trains, train related books, magazines and catalogues.

The auction also incorporated the 'Michael Foster British Toy Train Collection'. Michael is the celebrated author of a series of four books on British Toy Trains that are recognized as the ultimate reference guides for this sub section of model trains. The auction featured the toys included in Volumes One and Two of these compendia.

Wrenn W2303 4-6-2 LMS plain black Streamlined Coronation Class No.6237 "City of Bristol" with instructions, this is one of the locomotives assembled in the Dapol Factory after their acquisition of the Wrenn Company, condition is Mint in reproduction box.

DJH Kitbuilt OO Gauge 4-6-0 Loco and Tender LMS maroon large boiler Claughton "Breadalbane" No.6017. Professionally built and painted, missing 1 nameplate to one side otherwise Near Mint. Fitted with a portescap or similar motor.

Hornby Dublo 3-rail 6 car "West Riding Limited" Train comprising of 3 x Articulated pairs in two-tone blue, coaches are made from D12 Hornby Dublo Coaches with centre articulated bogie, superbly finished condition Mint.

DJH Kitbuilt O Gauge Limited Edition Ref K304 4-6-2 Loco and Tender LNER green Class A2 Peppercorn "A.H. Peppercorn" No.525, 2-rail finescale electric. Professionally built and painted with AH Peppercorn nameplate to smoke deflector sides, running number 525 to cab and LNER lettering to tender sides. Locomotive fitted with crew and mechanism is portescap or similar. This comes complete with limited edition certificate No.37 of 125 produced and signed by the tool making team. Excellent.

DJH O Gauge Kitbuilt Ref K306A 2-6-2 Loco and Tender LNER green V2 Class "Green Arrow" No.4771, 2-rail finescale electric. Green Arrow nameplates to smokebox sides, running number 4771 to cab sides and LNER lettering to tender sides. Locomotive fitted with crew and portescap or similar motor. Excellent to Excellent Plus with limited edition certificate No.4 of 35 produced and signed by the DJH tool making team.

Hornby Dublo 2-rail 2240 (Limited Edition) 2-6-2 BR green V 2 Class No.60800 "Green Arrow", complete with certificate No.135 of 210 produced to celebrate The Golden Jubilee of Hornby Dublo Trains "1938-1988", condition Near Mint to Mint in Excellent special reproduction picture box.

Whitanco WW1 "Barney E1" Tank. Very early tinplate clockwork tank in tan with embossed rivet detail. Whitanco trademarks and "Barney E.1 in gold to sides. Original black metal tracks. Hatch at rear opens to reveal the substantial clockwork motor. With non-original key. Motor working when tested. Length 8.25?/21 cm. Some light surface wear. Generally Good Plus in a Fair original box with illustrated label to lid (splits and repairs to corners of base and lid and some punctures to sides of base). (Book 1 page 20) A rare item, especially with its original box.

Marx 351P Overpainted Locomotive with 351 Tin Printed Tender and 2x Coaches. Clockwork O gauge tinplate locomotive factory overpainted in red with black smoke box front with tin printed tender in red and cream with "Mar Lines" logo to sides and 2x red and cream bogie coaches with "Mar Lines" logos to sides. Clockwork motor working when tested. Length of loco and tender 13.5"/34cm. Each coach is 9.25"/23.5cm long. Some light wear to finish but condition is generally Good Plus. (Book 2 pages 104 & 105)

Marx (USA) Canadian Pacific 3000 Locomotive, Tender and 5x Coaches. Tinplate O gauge 3 rail 2-4-2 electric loco in black and grey with red and gold detailing. 3000 to loco sides, "Canadian Pacific" to tender sides. 5x Canadian Pacific bogie coaches with a maroon metallised tin printed finish. Coaches are individually named "Vancouver", "Calgary", "Hamilton", "Montreal" and "Toronto". Length of loco and tender 14.5"/37cm. Length of each coach 6"/15cm. Loco has some light wear to finish and is generally Good Plus. Coaches are Excellent. With a Fair to Poor cardboard Marx Canadian Pacific Train Set Box containing track layout sheet, instructions etc.
