General Toy sale ? Subbuteo
Appearing in the 17th of November General Toy sale is a large collection of Subbuteo items.
Perhaps surprisingly Subbuteo was first invented in 1946 with flat figures (or ?flats?) made from cardboard, and chalk to mark out a pitch, however the first 3-d figures, the heavyweight versions, weren?t released until 1961, with the lightweight figures appearing in the 80s
The 55 lots in the sale comprise a number of boxed sets, including Club Editions, World Cup, Italia ?90, and Grandstand Editions.
There are boxed and unboxed heavyweight and lightweight teams, plus harder to find teams; amusingly some of the sets have team names hand written on the boxes, which appear to have been concocted by the vendor as a child and include names such as Grimy City and Sherwood Rangers.
There are also a number of accessories, plus spares and parts for a collector. Items include terraces/stands, crowds, goals, floodlights, trophies and paperwork.
A very nostalgic collection for any lover of Subbuteo as a child, and some interesting items for the collector.
