Einco rare "Mike" vintage dog, British, sold at the Alhambra Theatre (Glasgow) Pantomime in 1921, with pair of original card tags to chest, "Reg No 5957? "MIKE" My Eyes Turn", other tag states "Wylie-Tate Production" with hand written notation "2nd Feb 1921 Alhambra", reverse of this card states "WITH LOVE FROM CLARICE MAYNE". Cinnamon and cream mohair, elongated neck, wired ears with brown brushed cotton lining, large white glass comical eyes with brown swirling-effect iris and black pupil, black vertically stitched nose with longer drop stitches to either side, tartan ribbon to neck, slight thinning to mohair- mainly to back, otherwise Good Plus to Excellent, 11"/28cm. NB Einco (Eisenmann & Company) was the forerunner of the Chiltern Toy Company. In the winter of 1920-1921 the Alhambra pantomime was Puss in Boots, starring Clarice Mayne as the principal boy. Clarice Mayne was one of the most famous Music Hall performers of her generation. She was married to James Tate (producer, singer and performer). Off-sale front-of-house merchandise was produced by British Toy manufacturers, such as Einco.
