Meet Our Team! Many of our staff are collectors themselves, we asked them a few questions about their hobbies, our first Team Member under the spotlight is Craig.....

What do you collect?

Certain items of Railwayana and Modern image Military OO9 Narrow Gauge Locomotives & rolling stock, Thunderbirds related model kits to build, and Knight Rider/Airwolf related items.

When did you start collecting and why?

Both Thunderbirds & Thomas the Tank Engine were magnets for my attention when I was a child, I was able to collect some of the Thunderbirds toys as a child but with the inevitable house moves, things got lost. Now I have 'Adult' money, I can afford to buy better quality items. Knight Rider & Airwolf came more recently as soundtracks, physical material (Promo photographs etc)

What is your most favourite item in your collection and why?

For the Model Railway, it would have to be the Rebuilt Ffestiniog Funky locomotives in modern image liveries. Thunderbirds, its my Work-In-Progress complete 1:350 scale Thunderbird Two Hangar which is a scale representation of the full sized designs of the hangar drawn by Graham Bleathman. I'm still working on this model some five years on. Knight Rider & Airwolf has to be my model kits, the Knight Rider KARR has a functional scanner bar and a bluetooth speaker to quote lines from certain episodes.

What is your ultimate collectors’ dream item?

It's about to be released, the Bachmann/Aoshima/AIP 1:144 scale Thunderbird Two (largest commercially available model kit) which will have all six pods and related rescue vehicles.

What piece of advice would you give to people starting out collecting?

If you have the funds, get it there and then, don't wait around, it's not getting any cheaper.
