Vectis have opened an office in Oxford which will be open Monday to Friday 9-5, the office will be managed by Mike Delaney one of our Train Specialists.
This month sees Vectis Auctions launch a new Southern Regional Office in Witney, Oxfordshire.
The premises, located in West End Business Park, are centrally located and within easy reach of the A40 and M40 thus enabling Vectis to access wider markets and to evaluate and collect pieces promptly. The offices will be open Mon - Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm, with Vectis toy valuer Mike Delaney on site to provide free appraisals and give advice on buying and selling at auction.
Vicky Weall, General Manager at Vectis said "This new site is something we have been looking to do for some time and we feel we have found the right premises and location to suit our clients in the South. We believe this will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter of the company."
The additional workplace opening coincides with an expansion into other areas of collecting for the auction house who have established themselves as a world leader in the selling of toys. Forthcoming sales will cover TV and film posters, comics, comic books and annuals, railwayana, automobilia, technology collectables, sporting collectables, advertising and product packaging, retro and vintage pieces from the 1960's through to the 1980's. The company has seen a significant rise in interest in these areas over the past two years especially after the recent extremely successful TV and Film Memorabilia, Toy and Poster Sale.
Over the past decade Vectis have constantly been in the headlines for selling unusual pieces such as Monty Pythons Foot which they have currently and achieving World Record Prices such as £8,400 for a Palitoy Star Wars Empire Strikes Back FX- 7 Medical Droid, £34,000 for a Dinky Pre War No. 28/T Trade Box of Delivery vans and even £2,200 for a Hornby Miniature Series empty box.
The year is also significant as Vectis will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary which has seen the business grow from a small rural auction on the Isle of Wight, (hence the company name), to one of the world's leading toy auction houses. Since 1996, Vectis has been owned by North East based The Hambleton Group who specialise in niche businesses such as Life of Vinyl, an online vinyl record retailer, ArtsBank, a modern art gallery and Teesside Caravans, an award winning Caravan Dealership. Vectis currently holds over 50 auctions per year both in the North East and Warwickshire. Back in 1988 the only way to bid was to attend the auction in person or leave an absentee bid, now with the introduction of the Internet the sales are broadcast worldwide and people can bid from the comfort of their home or office, whether they are in the USA, Australia, China, the UK or anywhere in between.
