Variations in Colour

Here's a good example of how the slightest variation of colour on the same type of model can confuse the lesser experienced.

We often get this particular model sent in for auction, where the vendor is hopeful that their model is the rarer variation.

Here we see a side and base view of 3 variations of the Y11 Matchbox Model of Yesteryear Drophead Lagonda Coupe

The top model has the rare purple chassis - estimate £1000 - £1500

The middle model has the standard issue purple chassis - estimate £10 - £15

The bottom model is the strawberry chassis version - estimate £70 - £80

Seeing them all together clearly shows the difference but without the other models to compare it with, the middle or bottom example on its own, to the inexperienced eye, could be seen as the rare purple variation, raise expectations and inevitably lead to disappointment!
